Verbena plants boast a wide range of vibrant colors, including red, pink, apricot, lavender, purple, blue, white, and bicolors. These plants feature clusters of small star-shaped flowers and lanced-shaped leaves with finely toothed edges.
They can be utilized in containers, hanging baskets, borders, or mass plantings. Attractive to butterflies and other pollinators, this durable plant is tolerant of various soils, heat, and drought. While typically grown as annuals, some types are hardy in USDA zones 7-11. Soil:
To thrive, verbena should be planted in compost-amended soil with good drainage. It can also adapt to different soil types. However, compacted or clay soil can lead to root rot. Watering: Keep the soil moderately moist, but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot or mildew.
Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out between waterings. During prolonged heat or dry spells, increase irrigation frequency.
