Strobilianthus

Nurturing vigorous growth up to 1 m (3.3 ft) in both height and width, this tropical evergreen shrub is highly sought after for its striking dark green foliage adorned with vibrant, metallic-purple stripes that radiate from the central leaf vein. Under ideal conditions, it also boasts delicate pale purple flowers. 

Growing Conditions. With a minimum temperature of 50 °F,  flourishes best in USDA Zones 10–11. In cooler regions, it makes an excellent houseplant. This species thrives in warm, humid areas with ample sunlight. Due to the potential fading of its intense purple hue over time, some growers treat it as an annual. Noted for its dazzling colors, it has been honored with the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit in the UK. and  is widely available for landscape use and can be successfully cultivated.
